The Important Elements in Getting a Business to Scale
Yesterday, on Smashing the Plateau, Nina Kaufman explained that growing a business isn't just about making good money. She also talked about the important elements in getting a business to scale and how business has changed for the new generation.
Below, are some of her biggest influences:
1) My Dad
He opened me to the life of the mind and love of the pursuit of knowledge; taught me the value of integrity in business and a firm handshake.
2) Ayn Rand
I read The Fountainhead in law school—strange, to take a break from reading dense tomes…by reading a dense tome—yet it helped me honor my own individual desires and aspirations, instead of feeling I needed to follow other people’s models of success. (Remind me to tell you about my Monadnock moment).
3) Napoleon Hill
His book Think and Grow Rich, along with the Nightingale-Conant cassette tape (!) set, The Science of Personal Achievement, gave me the courage to quit my job and start my first law firm.
4) Michael Gerber
The E-Myth Revisited was my first (and eye-opening) introduction to the importance of putting systems in my business, and it actually saved my firm from imploding (for a time)!
5) T. Harv Eker
His Secrets of the Millionaire Mind introduced me to the concept of the “money thermostat,” and that “success is an inside job;” also started me on a journey of actively investing in my personal and leadership development.
